View original topic: help synchronizing dual webers

I have a 1970 fastback with a 2276 T1 engine, and dual weber 48 idf's.

The throttle body on one of my carbs is pretty worn, and don't think it can be rebuilt.

I'm assuming this is causing my carbs to desynchronize quickly, causing a lot of vibration in the engine.

Now I guess i could buy a new set of webers, but I feel like these can last me a little longer if I keep them in synch constantly. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do that.

I have a german made snail synchrometer to work with.

Does anybody know of a good reference, either video or article that describes how to do this process?

I've tried aircooled.net, but the lack of pictures makes it that much more difficult...

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

If carbs are continually loosing sync, I would say you have a linkage problem more than a carburetor problem.... carb adjustments usually do not change unless somebody does it to them.... Poorly adjusted or worn linkage is a real problem, and it takes as much time and patience to set it up proper as it does to fiddle with adjusting screws on carbs to get mixture correct.... Poor linkage, poor adjustments, poor performance... That simple...

you need to sync each carb at idle with linkage disconnected. the after they are done sync the opening time so they both open precisely at the same time.THE SAME TIME!!! if they do not open at the same time there not going to run right& will shake&probably spit the flywheel /fan off. fix any slop/crap in the linkage
