I have been trying to sell mine for awhile. I got back from drug rehab and my parents think its best to sell the one thing I love. But does it even have a chance of selling? Thanks, Wes

Honestly, not for the price your asking. The way it is now maybe $5-600. If you fixed the body maybe 1200. Supers are not the most wanted car out there.
I have a nice rust free 72 Super and I wouldn't ask that kind of money for it. :( |

| If you're starting your life over don't you need transportation to look for and get a job or go to school? Are your parents going to give you another car? May be none of my business but it seems to me your Super is the cheapest transportation you're likely to find. |

supers really struggle to sell in england too, yours looks like a good solid car but there are few people who would be willing to pay to have the bodywork sprayed on a super. if i was looking for a super and if yours had the standard exhaust (the one thing all beetles must have!) i would pay £650 - £800, it is a nice colour though! |

I am puzzled about your parents decision to make you sell the Super.
It seems to me, that to have a hobby to focus on, while in recovery, would help more than hinder. I am dealing with a similar issue with my eldest daughter, and that is not a road I would have taken.
Of course, This is spoken from the land of 'No inkling of the history'
Good Luck! |

Any good running transportation is gotta be worth more than 500 bucks. I would think you could probably get $1000 if it's solid [no rust]. As stated before, why sell it? Unless you have another form of transportation, yer gonna need something to get around. Not to make light of your situation, but hang on to it, and transfer your addiction to the bug. Working on cars can often be therapeutic.
Whatever you decide to do, go luck with beating yer demons.

First of all, It takes a BIG set to air your past problem here for the world to see. Kudos to you!
Second, I would sit down with you family and have a serious discussion about selling you ride. If it got you in trouble in the past, admit it. But also explain how keeping the vehicle will benefit you NEW beggining. If you have to relly on others for transportation, who's it going to be? The same crowd that got you into the drug problem in the past? Not a place I'd want to be, during a difficult road ahead. Let them know that if you're spending all your money on the car, you can't spend it on the drugs.
Just remember to stay calm and don't get in a shouting match you won't win. They're just concerned, probably the first time they've had to deal with this and doing the best they can.
Or you could sell it and get a Bay Window and throw some Greatful Dead stickers all over it. That would really freak them out. LOL |
