Hello people. I have looked at a lot of things on this site and have found some already useful info.

What I'm looking for is number clarification on motor.

On the pad on front of motor above crank pulley. #BB23004 81

On side of motor,
top line 2BO vw Brazil

middle line 043101102

Bottom line AS 41

I'm reading it at as 1600 cc motor. Correct?

It has EMPI heads on it. Dual Weber set up. Points distributer.

This is in a Trike. Which is why I posted her in performance.
Seems like a lot of work done to motor. But not running correctly right now.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you. mike

AS41 is the grade of magnesium alloy that the case is made of. The part number denotes that it is a universal case so without at least measuring the cylinders you have no real way of telling what size it is.

About all I could tell you about the origin from the engine number is it was from brazil, as all the Bx...... numbers seem to be. Never seen a listing for those vehicles in the english speaking world.

Could not tell you if it was a car a truck or a air-compressor.

Of course it would just be trivia anyway; those engine cases are functionally the same as those from Germany.
Looking at the oil valves, the cylinder studs, and what mounting bosses it has should tell you all you need to know about it.
