Hi all,
Have a leak from what appears to be the oil cooler seals or the oil cooler itself on my 65 square. When the oil heats up there's a bit of a pool of oil that builds up just under the oil cooler towards the top centre of the engine.
Was wondering if it's possible to take the cooler out and / or change the seals without having to remove the whole engine? I'm sure it's easier to do the job with the engine out, but at this point, I'd prefer to see if it's possible with the engine in? If so, what are the steps? I can't find much online about if it's possible..... |

Yes, it's possible.
I have done it a few times.
You have to remove the left side carb. and cylinder tin. |

Thanks!
It's a 1500 single carb... does that make it any easier (or harder?) |

Before you tear into it, take pictures... reference for when you put it all back on. |

Ooooh, now I am not sure as my '63 single carb. requires the engine to come out because the tin is different (early tin) but since you have a '65 it may be fine.
You will have to totally remove the single carb. manifold. |

oh no! Have already removed the manifold about 6 times in the last month or so and it doesn't get any easier. Those nuts are in the worst possible position! |
