View original topic: Where to buy a new engine for my 79 westy in Philly
WissBrauSean Fri Apr 18, 2014 5:44 pm

Any assistance would be appreciated even with my other tasks.

Blower and all new rubber hoses for engine.
Brake master cylinders and all other parts
Tires
Gel coat for hard top and its seals.
Seals for windows starting with windsheild.
New Canvas for pop top.
Rust issues on roof, not super serious. POR 15?
Rust around base of window seals.
All the wood is delaminating bad, thinking about just removing it and varnishing.
new drivers seat.
new passenger side door lock (tumbler).
Paint job.
sound system
security system.

Lots of tasks. going to tackle the mechanical first, then as money comes in take on the rest one at a time. If anyone can help me with ideas on the motor issues first, that would be great! Wish me luck!!!!

Do you have the stock 2.0L engine now?

FYI , there's only ONE master cylinder. There's slave cylinders in the rear, calipers up front and a proportioning valve behind the brake booster.

Search on here about carefully removing the laminate and re-glueing it. If your inclined to rip the laminate off, do it carefully and sell it on here. I'm actually looking for some pieces for myself.

Good, you came to the right place. The assistance is already all here just waiting for you to go get it. The search function will lead you on a magical journey to all the info you need.
Doing a bus is a big major lenghty job, and there are no worthy shortcuts. Just grab one topic at a time and get it taken care of. We can't do it for you. All of the topics on you list are well documented with lots of prior good help. Surely you wouldn't expect it all to be written out again in duplicate.

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, stock 2.0 engine. Dale hooked me up with a link for the Bus Depot. I will look into that further as I get more time. Working two jobs.

yeah, one thing at a time!

I'm crossing my fingers that I don't find a whole lot more to add to the list.

I was suprprised that after she was sitting in a garage for ten years her brakes still functioned.

wish me luck!!!

I bought a 2.0 longblock from Adrien at HeadflowMasters. Quality build at a reasonable price. Do a search, he's got a great rep.

As for a NEW engine.... those days ended 40 years ago and anyone
that tells you they have a NEW engine compared to a REBUILT engine is
usually also a snake oil salesman.

REBUILT with used case and reconditioned internal parts is what you get today.
