I have a 64 beetle with a retro sound deck. What r the best speakers to get. I want 6 1/2 so I can keep them hidden. I want it loud with some bass but no sub

I have a Retro Sound Zuma and a set of Polk Audio db691 with a Boss PH4.500 amplifier. I'm very happy with the set up. If turned up 3/4 it can make your ears bleed.

Hey madmac, do you have those 6x9's boxed, or door mounted?

I used a J bugs speaker tray

Pair of Rockford 6x9 3-ways with a Rockford 10" sub in a down firing box on a simple rear tray. 500w Rockford Fosgate amp - 2 channels driving the 6x9's and 2 bridged driving the sub. Clean as loud as I want it to go.

Buy a good amp - better off with clean power instead of a crappy amp rated at 2000 watts.

Thanks for all the ideas. I still want to put a speaker in the dash. I have a bracket made to fit a 6 1/2 speaker. What's a good speaker though?

I have a RetroSound R-65N dual voice coil speaker mounted in the stock location. I have yet to feed it a decent signal, still just running a stock Sapphire 1 am radio. The speaker does sound good though, and I bet it will sound good with an MP3 signal when I get around to installing a RediRad or similar.
