measure is your best bet to get the proper length,The bus trans are slightly offset so one side may be shorter than the other too

with beetle arms you'll need Thing stub axles to use the better bigger bus cvs.

I bought some thing stub axles from Vince a week ago.
He had some used thing axles and cv's joint then for sale.
You can give him a try.

944/924/Thing stubs will bolt in. Type 4 and Thing complete axles will bolt in. You can use bus/thing/type 4 cvs on bug axles with or without the circlip

When I ran a 002 trans with bug trailing arms I used stock bug axles with bug outer cv joints and bus inner cv joints. Spline is the same and I never had any problems. The only issue is you cannot have the circlip in place on the bus cvs but I never had one pop out or give me any issue. I ran it that way for 3 years before I went to 3x3 arms.

the build continues....i'm building a 2 seat sand rail,2276(approx 150 hp) 3
rib bus,101 wheelbase, approx 1100 lbs. i ride most @ little sahara park in oklahoma. i do plan to make "usa sand tour" in the next couple of years, glamis will be my first stop, head north from there. need some input on paddle tires--been looking @ stu 1300 plus on 15x15 or stu 1650 stagger cut on 15x15, looking for the tire thats best for most all areas. i have no experience on other areas .....you all have been great on advising me on this build so far....counting on you for more help.(decisions,decisions,decisions....my head hurts.
thanx again
