I have a 56 panel and having problems with the shifter. When everything is In place the ball of the shit rod ends up barely in the socket of the shift rod. So when you shift it pops out of the rod. It appears to be the correct rod and mount. Driving me nuts. Can anyone help me out?

Thx but that does not cover pre 60. Mine is the small ball shifter.

My 1963 bus had a similar problem. I bought a front shifting shaft at an autowrecker, removed the aftermarket shaft from the bus and put them side by side on the garage floor. The front of tha aftermarket shaft was bent lower than the front of the stock shaft. When I installed the stock shaft, it shifted fine.

If you can post some pics of the linkage and rod underneeth.

Do you have the M-spring on the rod bracket under the shifter?
