| Ok listen up guys. Since I am the Samba Chat Whore, I have been nominated to make a chat tutorial. Once you get into the chat you have no name. At the top of the screen there is a box that says Name:. Type in your name and HIT ENTER. To see who is in your chat room, or channel as this chat likes to call it, click on the Whois ? button. To see who all is in chat, meaning every channel, click the Finger button. To see a list of commands either hit the Help button or type: /help To change channels, first click on Available Channels to see what channels there are. Then type: /join (and then insert whatever name is in the parentheses of the channel you would like to join) To yell across the channels, type: /yell (and then your message) The yell function can be seen in every room. If you have any further questions, let me know..I think I have most of it figured out. Hopefully this helps you guys get started! |

| Koot gave me the advice to make sure your Java is enabled. Open up your browser and go to Tools. Then click on Internet Options. Then click on the Advanced tab. Make sure the boxes by Java Console enabled and Java Logging enabled are clicked. The one requires a computer restart..just a heads up. Good luck! |

The basic breakdown is this:
1. Click on Java Chat at the top of the screen, a new window will open.
2. Enter your name at the top of the Chat window, press Enter.
3. Click Finger if you want to see who else is in there.
4. Looking at the finger list, it will show you what channel you are in, for example channel 2.
5. If everyone else is in channel 0 or 1 or whatever, enter /join 1 (use actual channel #) to switch to where they are chatting.
6. CHAT!
The Java chat may not work behind a firewall (like if you are at work) :) |
