First of all I hate my neighbor, a couple of years ago we had a partyand around midnight some of us went out front to be roudy and the old man stuck a shot gun in our faces screaming about being too loud. So the cops were called they told us he craped his pants and that was the last I heard from him. Most recently he managed to back into my poor 69 fastback and destroy a fender. (Luckily I have 3 or four replacement fenders) But if you saw the street we live on you couldn't possibly imagine backing into someone. See he lives across the street and my car was in my driveway. I could make a utrurn with a simi truck without running into something the street is so wide. So I made him pay and he did, we didn't call the police or file an insurance claim he just outright paid for some new parts. Yesterd I pulled my motor and dorky came over looking around confirming that the motor was in the rear. He also said umm I thought only Volkswagen had the motor in the rear. It is VW I pointed out you idiot. Then asking were the transmission was I pointed it out looking inside, he says "Oh its straight transmission, I thought Volkswagens had trans axles" I just looked at him and went back to work. He finally left after trying to help and me shooting him down. Any reason why I shouldn't depise him?

sounds like a cool cat to me..even if he doesnt know shit about VWs. As for the party, wasnt there, couldnt say...if he was justified...in being mad. The shotgun is a little extreme. You said he is old....hey, could be worse man...could be worse. I got a two dudes/lovers livin next door and they hate my bug. Whatever, I just smile and wave as I drive away.

Because he's your neighbor. It's good to make friends with the people you have to live near. That said, I hate my fuckin neighbors too.

i've got no problems with any of my neighbors. That being said, I think all my neighbors have a problem with me  . "That long haired kid driving that loud as hell primer wagon" I'm sure thats what they all think, I've got a day care center across the street and the kids all run to the fence whenever I crank it up, even a few hot moms have come over and asked me about it

most of the people on my street are sound, but our neighbours & the people living over the road are really ignorant & don't even aknowledge you if you walk by them, so the best way to make that little voice inside you go "mwahahaha!" is to either park your dub on the grass outside their house (it ain't their land!) or just keep pressing your musical horn :P

Listen I think this neighbor bothers me so much because of the shot gun issue. I'm holding a long long grudge, but the man stuck a shotgun in my face how else should I feel . He also made a long lasting impression on one of my favorite cars. One cool thing about my neighborhood is everyone keeps to themselves I had a fastback shell in my front yard for a couple of months before I started to cut it up, not a single person said anything about it. To this day there is still a roof section a hood and a rocker panel sitting in my front yard waiting for the day I get off my lazy ass and move those parts to the backyard with all the other fastback parts that I imagine I will never do anything with.

I can't leave parts in plain view just because of the fact that it bothers me. Also, if you look like a Gearhead everyone starts asking all kinds of Q's about their crap! Plus I'll be living in an Apartment for two years so all my goodies are packed away.

I havesome weirdass neighbors. the one the left has a hot grandaughter that i used to talk to but now that were older and my girlfriend moved in she doesnt talk to me anymore and her grandpa is a nosey mothafarker. Everytime im working on my car he has to walk by and just look and keeps walking. It wouldnt bother me if he only did it once but he does it lke 3 times. My neighbor on the other side is weird. I used to hang out with them but as we got older they started getting weird. The older brothers cool and moved out or whatever but his younger brothers a lowlife. He like20 now and all he does is sit at home and do nothing. Whenever i work n my rides he feels like he had to turn on and wash his mustang and impala. Its weird. Oh and when hes done washing he revs up real loud and drives it around the block. I swear ive never seen him drive his cars anywhere else, just around the block...never. Another family down the street has a motorhome in there yard that they rent out to people and theyre always out the drinking and they always end up getting into fist fights with eachother and the next day theyre all cool and whatever. Everyone alse is cool and keep to themselves. Oh no, i used to have this neighbor, it was a christian family and the wife was a real bitch. She looks like you stereotypical christian fat ladies with the big moomoo. Man did that lady beat her kids. Her husband was cool and was a vw guy also(he was into fatchicks though). One time he built a bug woody kinda thing. the whole woody section was weird though and it looked like it sagged , but he still came over and showed it off and i was" thats cool". Also theres a guy around the block whos also a black christian/baptist or whatever and everytime i walk by his house he stares like no other and hes really dark so at night when i walk around the block smoking a ciggy(or whatever) he just looks freaky and says "stop smoking that dope round heah"..i love it and i do it on purpose also...thats it

Damn Fernando, you must live in the ghetto....lmao!! j/k...at least you have some "colorful" neighbors. All my neighbors are stuck up and never say anything to anybody. Well, a couple of em are cool.

I guess I am really lucky. I have great neighbors. One of my neighbors has a garage with a pit. She will let me use it any time I want. I have an opener for the garage. I do live in a small community but it is full of great people. Today I was working on my Square in the driveway and all kinds of people stopped by. It was funny. Brent 67 was there teaching me how to adjust valves. I think he was amazed at how many folks stopped by. Very friendly neighborhood.
Just lucky I guess!

We all ran inside and we came out later and took a cruise and the cops there a few streets down and a mini van was slammed into a tree. I live near Anniehum in Washington, maybe its just a Washington thing but my neighbors are cool too. My immediate next door neigbor owns a car repair bussiness and he was the 2nd owner of my current bus (he brought it up from Cali) they are very cool and still have a love for VW's. They own a nice 74 standard beetle. My neighbor next to him has a notch and a sqaureback. He is the one I actually got the bus from( he was the third owner). They are both super helpful. If I ever need anything I just ask and they have it, except for a 46mm socket!

Hey Todd, are you talking about Alan and his little green bug? Have you seen Joe and Holly's burgandy Notch. I love that car Holy Cow. Before I knew it was Joe I stopped him at the grocery store and asked him if that was a notch. I had never seen one before and his is really sweet.
I think we are very lucky to live where we live. The neighbors are great.

you shouldnt be mean to him. you should ask him over for a beer or whatever and talk to him about it. i know it sounds korny, but it works. he probly was just having a bad day when he pulled the gun out on you. maybe he had a war flashback or something. just try talking to him. and show him around the vw, it wont hurt any. hell, this guy might end up giving you a lead on a super rare acvw or something, ya never know.

as for the neighbor thingie, my neighbors are sort of recluses, but when i have my split out in the driveway workin on it, they seem rather interested in it.

I am straight out ghetto. I have lived for 17 years in the same townhouse community on the east side of Los Angeles. I have been threatened, shot at, and burglarized. Wife can't stand it, but I refuse to move out. Pay $600 a month mortgage. That allows me to have my VW habit and support 2 grandchildren and deadbeat step-son. Last Sunday I was working on my bus and waiting for the cable guy to arrive. I saw the cable truck waiting at the gate, so I went to open the gate, but before I could, neighbor at the front washing his car dropped the hose to open the gate for my cable guy. Well, neighbor #2 objected to wasting the water from the dropped hose (townhouse does not have individual water meters). #1 neighbor said f-you and it was on. Kids and wives joined in on the action. Neighbor #1 got hit over the head with a flashlight and knocked out cold and has his arm in a sling. Neighbor #2 was handcuffed and arrested for assault. Just another Sunday in the hood.
