"the old man stuck a shot gun in our faces"

I had a dream last night that I shot some kid in the face with a 12 gauge pistol that shot slugs, it was AMAZING!!!

WTF! the guy put a gun in your face!!!!! you dont have to hate the guy, but seriously, once someone threatens you with a gun, you should avoid further contact, IMO.

My last bug had a 1915 w/48s and everytime I would start it, my neighbors house would shake.(Well, thats what they said) One night, my bro. in law and I were playing pool in the garage and he came out and started to talk shit. Well, I gave him 2 bleedy noses and wouldve easily knee him in the face went he went down but decided not too. He now has some respect for me and he knows not to cause anything with me. He just moved in so he thought he was all that but I showed him..

I have no intention of beating this old man down. Thats a little extreme I would say.

When we moved in here, there was nobody living near us, just empty feilds, now we have a house across the road, nice old guy w/his step-son & Daughter in law, exellent people, the old buck lets me use his log splitter anytime, the younger guy is a carpentor/builder type, rides a Hog,has great partys @ her familys farm,2 miles away, really cool people.
We have 3.5 acres, mostly open land, I've had up to 14 cars & 3 trailers here and no one has ever said shit....... I'll put up with the cold , snow, rust vws ect., to live here, its way worth it.

I live in a home that I own and share the drive way with some folks that rent, the drive turns into a Y in about 30 feet an leaves enough room for us each to park 2 cars. So I have three cars and park one on the curb out in the street and these fools like to park a car in the middle of the drive and block my wife in, or me out. It really pisses me off to no end, so yesterday I drove through there yard. I think next time I will park my old Dodge behind whatever is in my drive and go to the mall for a couple of hours and see how they like being blocked in the drive.

Also their bedroom window is right next to the drive, so I start my VW in the morning and let it high idle for 15 mins or so, just to piss them off.

Our neighbors don't really care about my car, but I bet that if we lived somewhere else in the neighborhood, they would. They (my dad included) have complained about the garbage trucks, leaving small puddles of hydraulic (or some type) of fluid on the streets. And about people not keeping their yards perfect. The only thing I can complain about is the neighbors, they have these little dogs and they NEVER stop yapping. Even my mother has wanted to shoot them.

As a sort of game, Mom and I like to guess who is driving by in their grey Honda Odyessy, there's about 15 of them in the neighborhood. lol

My next door neighbor is an A hole but the neighbor next to him is a retired VW mechanic. He has installed new heads, pushrod tubes, rings, main seal, alternator, dog house cooler, front beam, and a zillion other things on my Ghia. He won't take a dime from me. A super guy that just loves to help. He welds, and makes custom parts, and does whatever he can to be helpful. I would be months away from a finished vehicle without his help.
I do whatever I can to help him with the things he has little knowledge of. So far that has been fixing his and his wife's computers and a bit of other electronics help. I wish I could do more for him.

LeviMan2001 Wed Oct 28, 2009 11:57 pm

My neighbors don't do anything. One up the road has a tenant with a sorta "patina'd" bay window. We have way to many cars in the yard but no one's said anything

my neighbors just keep asking me when my buggys going to be done. (i feel like they are tired of looking at it but maybe thats just me)

After reading through this thread I am beginning to wonder
My neighbours are great people.

I'm not going to piss off my neighbors. You never know what they are thinking.

For one, the guy who always bothers me when I'm working on the Bus or the Beetle walked over a couple of weeks ago. I stopped working, because I knew this was going to be another how, what, and when discussion about my VW's. Instead, he told me about a bus sitting in a field that looked a lot like mine and I might be able to use it for parts.

Learned my lesson. Never make an assumption and be patient. You never know when that patience will pay off in a lead for another VW.

My nabhors rock, one side just stays to themselfs. The other one is a retired vw mechanic, used to work at a dealer back in the day and has all there old og tools that I get to borrow. Pretty neat I just got a dlx bus thats been sitting for a bit. He remembers the bus from the sixtys when he used to work on it at the dealership.

I have only a few neighbors, considering that I live well outside of Eugene, Oregon city limits but still have a Eugene mailing address and landline phone number, but most of them are tree-huggers who complain about my daily-driver VW and non-VW belching smoke and being generally loud and ugly, and I also get kids on dirt bikes, quads and BMX bikes riding on my property, as well as the occasional hooligan with a slingshot, a paintball gun or a BB gun. A kid who was hurling golf balls with a slingshot was responsible for shattering the unobtainium back window of my 1954 Simca Sport 9 basketcase, for breaking the grille on my 1977 Scirocco and for denting my 1994 EuroVan, and I have had the tree-huggers leave notes in my mailbox (isn't that a Federal offense?), in my newspaper box, under windshield wipers and on my front door. They apparently had the audacity to ignore the "No Trespassing" and "Insured by Smith & Wesson" signs I put up and to risk being bitten or mauled by my Anatolian Shepherds, just to irritate me for what seems like their pleasure. I have since invested in surplus ocean-freight containers and a steel storage building to put most of the cars in, and I have had considerably less trouble.

But all my troubles with neighbors are trivial in comparison with the stories of people wielding guns, among other scary things in this thread, so I can count myself lucky for the fact that I have never been confronted by someone with a firearm, although I have been at the receiving end of knives, ice picks and straight razors, which were wielded in fights in bars as a young man and not by neighbors.

I asked my last neighbor not to park his trash cans on my property any more. I asked him nicely. "I've been doing it for fifteen years", was his responce. i told him I didn't want him to do it anymore. So, he resorted to DRAGGING them down his gravel driveway, past my bedroom window, at four in the morning when he left for work. We had words in the street over that and I thought it over. Then one morning he did it again. I tried to continue sleeping but was pissed. So finally, I got up, turned over my wheelbarrow and slammed it with a shovel a coupla times yelliing into the house, "if I can't sleep, nobody is gonna sleep".

When he got home that day, at three O'Clock, he threatened to kill me. "I am not afraid fo you", I lied, staring him in the face.

A few days later, I came home to find my trashcan ran over. His tire marks, distinctive, were still on it. The police did nothing!

I called the county and had his commercial truck removed from my neighborhood, forcing him to drive two miles additional to and from work to get to his truck!

Still he did not stop. What he didn't know was his boss was a drinking buddy of mine.

I had him fired.

A year later, I found a nice home deep in the woods with no neighbors.

True fucking story.

I live a mile from my nearest neighbor. I also live on a quarter section of land with not much else but trees on it. Nobody says anything and we all get along good. :D I intend to keep it that way. 8)

Right now I live in a residential area with a lot of college students and a lot of old people, our driveway is small and packed with volkswagens, sometimes people say they are cool, usually I am totally left alone, no negatives yet...

once an older guy who drove by, said "man, your driveway is like driving past the '70's again, keep on keepin' on friend."

BugMan114 Sat Nov 28, 2009 9:47 pm

Once, someon had bashed in my passenger side door window and stole a laptop case i had with about $300 worth of tools inside. the next day as i was fixing it, three guys were walking down the street when i heard one of them say "remember when i broke that window". WTF!?!?!?! i followed them in my boring car (mitsubishi galant), and they lived right down the street. they started walking again, and i drove home and parked the car (you can't see the car from the street, so they didn't know it was me). i got my shot gun, and was pretending to clean it. when they walked around the circle, and past my house again i heard one of them say "OH SHIT....... don't fuck with that guy again". i now keep my gun in my bedroom, and park my car in front of my bedroom window. if they ever decide to try something again, they better pray that gun jams, cause you don't have to be a good shot with buckshot (which i am).
