I'm doing the paint on this bus, need to prefit the pieces before paint. I have never done one of these so I just need to see how the factory did it. Anybody else out there that can help a fellow out?

Have you seen the Technical Bulletins? Section "A", Bulletin 25 is a good one on that.

I just did a set of Safaris a couple of weeks back, one detail that might not be clear from the instructions is that the internal mounting plate is designed to be able to float somewhat within the upper windshield opening, yet its retained by a middle screw so as not to get lost withing the upper shell. When the fasteners are placed through the Safari hinge, they pass through the body sheetmetal and into the mounting plate, when tightened they sandwich the body sheetmetal, holding the window at whatever alignment you've got it at.

That might only be noticed if you study the documentation and happen to notice that the hole sizes in the sheetmetal portion of the frame opening are oversized to allow the M4 fasteners to move left/right/fore/aft so the Safari can be aligned in the opening as well as setting the depth of the frame closure against the rubber seals. If you skip using the mounting plates and rivet or screw the Safaris in, you lose the adjustability and could end up with clearances that result in seals that bind or don't close completely flush.

One last detail- the center hole on the Safari hinge should be oversized so the window can be removed without removing the fastener since it's retaining the floating plate. I used a step drill to open it up and then painted that one fastener head red as a reminder to leave it because if that plate is lost within the hollow frame, it would be a bear to fish out and realign. Those fasteners don't show after installation because they're under the seal.
