View original topic: Ida 48 jetting advice

I know some are getting tired of questions about jetting webers.. I know the basic jetting for idf.. Are there any big differences with ida's?

Ive got italian, bologna webers, 2 progression holes (don't want to make a third).

Engine is a 2074cc (92x78)
ported cb 044, 42/37, 176cfm @ 14mm 25" water
SLR XR310 with 1,4:1 (13,95 lift)
1,5/8" merged
Dds short manifolds

ida 48, 37mm venturies
F11 e-tubes
100 idle jet holders
idle jet?
main jet?
air jets?
float level?

Got a Innovate mtx-l wideband, so I'm going to get it right.. but would be nice with some pointers in the right direction.

With the 100 idle air holders id start with 55, start 155 mains with 200 air jets and set to 5.5mm on the float. Youll have to mess with the idle jet to help the mid hole.

Ok, thanks. Standard are 120 idle jet holders.. but I've read about bogging without the 3rd progression hole.. I friend of mine told me it can be helped if changing to 100 or 110 idle jet holders.

Hopefully I'm going to be somewhere close and fine tune reading the afr.

what are the throttle position should I set? 0,10mm on idf, same on ida?

I'm going to run blue holley, holley 1-4psi regulator. An8 from tank -> pump -> filter -> regulator, then an6 to each carb.

Id seriously consider sending the carbs to dave at blackline. Its only 70$ or find someone locally to drill it. It makes a huge diff on driveability. I run a 125 air holder and 70 idles, 3rd prog, 175 mains , 40 vents 200 air, f7 tubes. Ive been getting 23mpg.

Naa, first of all, I'm located in Sweden (northern Europe), then I want to keep the carbs as they were.

Second generation of Bologna Weber ida if I'm not wrong.

Im not following why you being in Sweden has anything to do with it. Up 2 U. Have fun with it.

Referred to leaving them to Dave at Blackline :-) But I could get it done here at a local shop, but the main reason is that I want to keep them as they are.

Whats your elevation where your at in Sweeden? Jus asking cause that will have a lil to do with it. I had the same engine and just sold it back in Feb. If your gonna be street driving I totally agree with Jfats about the 3rd hole. These carbs were made for racing, idle and WOT thats it. Back in the day we ran them on everything here but always had to clear um everytime we began rolling. You will be amazed at how much better the engine will run and if your worried about it loosing its value, it wont. Not to me anyway. But anyways this is what I was running ...

120 Idle airs
155 mains
200 airs
65 Idles
F11's
37 Vents

I had a 2276, engle 130 with 2 progression holes and found I just needed to up the idle to get it to not stumble. It is basically masking the problem, but it ran great with no issues.

F11
60 idle, 55 would not run right in mine.
200 air
160 main
100 idle jet holder
39mm vent

I tried it with 37mm vent and could drop the main to 155, but could not drop the idle size.

Good luck, it takes a lot of patience but you will get there.

Larger engines work better with 60 idle fuel and 130 idle air as a starting point.

Been shoveling gravel a couple of days (24 tons) for my new parking lot.

John, could you explain why you want a larger idle air with a larger engine? My engine is 2074cc (78 stroke, 92 bore).

I've bought some jets from an italian guy, alfa1750 on ebay, he's got all you need for weber carbs. So I have idle jets 50, 55, 60, main jets 150, 155, 160, air 190, 200, F11 and F7 emulsion tubes.

Would you put in larger venturis? considering that 37 is almost exactly 4mm smaller than the intake valve seat. Aiming to rev 7000rpm at this point.
