I really need some help here. If I run Porsche pattern brakes (4 whl disc) will 15x7 phone dials off of a 88 944 turbo bolt right up. Are the offsets ok??? Somebody help me. Also will this set up work on a late sixties early seventies bus???

15 x 7 phone dials will work if they are the right offset.

Phones came in 23mm & 52mm offsets.
The 52mm offset is the one that you desire. Whether or not it came off an 88 944, I couldnt tell you.

Look on the back of the rims for something like this "7Jx15H2 E23" or "7Jx15H2 E52".

back from the dead! I know that the 52mm offset phone dials have been proven to fit, but has anyone actually fitted the 7 inch wide 23mm offset ones? from what it sounds like the lower offset would push the wheel about an inch closer to the fender. It would be helpful to see a picture of a type 3 with the 52mm offset phone dials for comparison. Anyone running these wheels?

Thanks! :D

I have set of Porsche et53 16x7 and 16x8 on my square. There are a mess of pictures in my gallery.

Great! So how thick are the adapters that you used? I'm wondering if I had re-drilled hubs without spacers/adapters if that would give me the appropriate clearance to use the 23mm offset wheels..hmm.

They're 27mm or about an inch thick... so if you do the math... 53 - 23 is 30mm... which is about an inch... on a 7" wide wheel... you are going to be poking quite a bit.

Yeah. It's not looking too good is it :P I appreciate your help!

its possible but then you are going to have to really stretch out some tires... which may not go along with the overall look of the car.

Welp, I need to buy adapters for my fronts anyways (15x6 52mm offset phone dials) I'll test fit the 7 inchers on the back and see if I want to try it. I was hoping with re-drilled hubs, some negative camber from lowering, and some smaller rubber (175/55/15 on the back, and 155/60/15 out front) that it might work.

looking at your 7 inch fronts, adding roughly an inch because of the lower et looks do-able with some negative camber. this is my first foray into squeezing wheels on a type 3 though, do I sound off base?

Its going to be a really tight fit... although your wheels are going to be 1/2" narrower towards the fender, that still puts you 1/2" closer... keep in mind that I had to roll my fenders in order to alleviate the rubbing. Also, I raised the front 1 notch since that ^ ^ ^ picture was taking due to rubbing... Here is an updated picture. In short, if you'll need to roll your fenders but you should be fine.
