Im sure this has been brought up alot but here it goes. my family claim they adjust there valves to .004 and i know stock is .006 i was curious if .004 is to tight. This is done on a cold motor. |

You can use .004 if you adjust the valves very often. Very few people want to check their valves often enough to get away with it, so it is a better idea to set them at .006. |

.006 for stock aluminum push rods (non hydraulic lifter motors) ....
Believe this to copy of sticker found on almost all aircooled VW engines...

I adjusted mine to .004 intakes and .006 exhaust on my street engines , zero lash on my race engine. |

on my 62 oweners hand book it states to set the valve at .008 but i think they did this as a emergency fix until u took it to the dealer. |
