Rancho, Action racing gearboxes, Buggyworld. I like using smaller shops. Be prepared to have tire size, engine size, and performace target in mind available when calling. |

thanks for the pointers.
i'm looking for a transmission for a 1970 westfalia.
stock is fine.
but i'd rather trade a little low-end gearing for some highway cruising.
i would love to be able to pull 6% grades at better than 55mph.
1600 sp.
as long as i'm shopping, i thought i could find some good information here. |

A good used ZF LSD is $1000. A new Quaifel is $1500 |

as long as i'm shopping, i thought i could find some good information here. Had a 70 tin top, u having a heavier westy u wont be doing better with a taller gear with that eng. To do a easy test borrow, temp mount a set of rears 2 inches taller than what u have, now go drivinf 4 awhile and see diff in drop in any hilly , let alone 6%. The effect is same as a gear change, less rpms per eng rpms. & eng now works harder. U r gonna have to up eng size quite a bit if u go taller gears, 1776 a good start. Go to bus forum 4 a read of what u desire, mucho info there if u will take the time to do it. |

You need to contact Mike Gagnier at Precision Engineered Performance: https://www.facebook.com/PEPVWS 704-528-4479
He's local to you and he's the best trans builder on the East Coast; his turn-around time is pretty good, too. |
