View original topic: What external oil filter to use with bugpack hideaway?

I was planning on running a CB maxi 2 but when I went to order it I noticed that it said it would not work with some headers. I'm afraid to order it and find out that it won't clear the hideaway muffler I'm planning on running. Should I buy something like an housing for a full flow and mount the filter in the fenderwell or something similar?

I have had good results with the Berg kit:

Substitute a System 1 filter for the Fram HP-1 and you will never have to buy another filter.

I've run a Maxi2 with a single quiet exhaust system for 35 years

I have that setup on my VW Woodie - The basic Bugpack header is the same for a lot of their systems - just different mufflers. BUT to make your life easier - dont buy a big assed oil filter. I use Napa Gold 1342 - very good quality filter and its fairly small. Big filters will cause a problem.

I use Fram PH16 with my Maxi2, not the large PH1.

Perfect! I'll be ordering the maxi then. :D

Make sure you get the right one for your cam gear - flat or dished.

What is the overall length of that filter and oil pump assembly? If I buy it for a stock cam, will it still work with an aftermarket cam? Why are there both flat and dished cams? Do they correspond to anything else?
