So, I have an 1835 110 cam big valve heads, and a set of itc's ran great for years! Now not so hot, should I ditch the duals and go big single, like one 48? Had at the shop of a well known webber guy, runs great at first, but once up to temp won't idle ????

It's in a thing if that matters

Dell 40s 1st choice, Dell 36s 2nd choice, italian or spainish 40s 3rd choice, hpmx v2 gone thru by a pro 4th choice. Coincidently, this is also in order from most costly to least.
True duals will gain more hp than any single na carb hands down and when tuned correctly, will yield best performance per mpg imo. Buy once, cry once.

Fix the problem, then upgrade the carbs.

How old is the engine? If they are the old thin 92's chances are the cylinders are worn and leaking past the rings. Do a leak down test before you start hacking on the carbs.

Top end done less than 1000 miles ago rings, rehoned and the new heads

The latest version of the hpmx's are nice. 4 progression ports.

If a change happens it will be to one double barrel carb, in the center, duals make taking the motor out too hard
And they are thick walled 94's

it sounds as if there is something mechanically wrong with the engine. Do a leak-down or compression test cold, then when it won't idle.

If it checks out mechanically ok, then i suspect it's too rich.

don't trust the work or the parts. Trust the results (data).

Ahem. Sorry, I'm repeating myself.

Why would you need to drop the motor continuously to make dropping the motor a hum bug anyway?
Where do you get thick wall 94s? Did you mean thick wall 92s?
69x92 is what makes an 1835. Do you know what you really have?
I was hasty when recommending dual carbs because experience tells me so, but Dave is right on this one. Find the cause of the initial problem. Lash, timing woild be first suspects. Then jetting. I wouldnt bother going to a single dual tbh. Its not worth it. 1 x 48 idf = 300-350. Single mount set up = 85. Youre about 50$ away from a full set of duals.

Thick 92's case and heads bored to 94 valves set timing spot on.
I am disabled, had a stoke. Only have one working arm, don't take motor out much, but would like it to be easier

Not to be a troll or anything, but...
I think you mean "advice", not "advise".
