Hello,

Removed the drivetrain of my 1960 bug.

I found Wear at the shifting fork and starter areas of the transaxel bell house. Original Swing axel to a 36hp motor. Excessive end play the cause?

Thank you for looking.

I'm thinking the wrong clutch is on there. Nothing should touch at those points. Post a pic of your clutch.

Thank you for the response. I think you're correct. The clutch has a stamp stating it was replaced in 1974. Maybe they grabbed the wrong size.

That looks like it was ground down with a die grinder or something similar and I don't see any damage on the pressure plate.
