View original topic: Does anyone sell early bay deck lids?
Esher127 Thu Sep 18, 2014 5:57 am

Someone rear ended my bus at a stoplight. The damage isn't terrible and the insurance company is willing to fix it, but neither the insurance company or I can find a new deck lid and/or engine valance. Does anyone know of a place that sells these? It looks like new ones are made for split windows and late bays, but not early bays.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I had the same issue and had to scour the classifieds here for the best used ones I could find. Best of luck!

Tried busted bus, and they don't have any. :(

And yeah, we've been having a hell of a time with a new engine. I own the back bumper, but the engine has been in and out of it so many times we've just left the bumper off. I'm not sure it would have helped anyway, and the explorer that hit me would have just gone over it.

Try this guy. He is in Vermont. I have not gotten anything from him but he has a lot of parts on here. He might have one or know someone. http://www.howardvw.com/

BusDepot says that a 66-67 split deck lid will fit with different hinges? I thought the split window decklids were a different size/style... does anyone know if that will work? I'm skeptical.

PM me with your phone number. I have a nice one right here off of a 70. It's even white. I'll send you pics.

Yes, they will work. The brow has a different profile. Split lids can go for 100-200 more than a bay though. Contact "shiningstar".

Are there any differences, over the years, on bay's decklids or are they basically the same 68 through 79?

Brian Wed Oct 14, 2015 5:13 pm

Yes!!

-67 Deckilds will not work, they are way too long. I think there are three different lids, 68-72, 73-74, 75-79.

Someone please correct me on that.

Here's a 67 lid on a bay:

What year do you need and just where in Canada are you?

BD
The Spec. Guide says the hinge change occurred with the introduction of the 1977 model yr.
Was it a mid 76 change?
Thank you

Actually for a friend. He's looking for a 69 lid. I'm just outside Toronto.
