The beam end plates on my 78 are badly rusted, although the PO did a fine looking job with gobs of JB weld. Can I remove the remains of the rusted original end plates and install the flat plates that are available usually for narrowing a beam to repair the beam back to safe service with out narrowing the beam? Thanks |

Not sure about the aftermarket end plates. But you could always call busted bus. I'm sure they have an OG set. |

good question. I figured he meant rear beam when he used the term plate. |

That sounds like a lot of work to end up with a standard beam. Admittedly the tubes don't usually rust so it should be possible though if you're a decent welder with a decent welder.
Be prepared to discover that the beam is reluctant to come off due to being rusted to the frame!
