The beam end plates on my 78 are badly rusted, although the PO did a fine looking job with gobs of JB weld. Can I remove the remains of the rusted original end plates and install the flat plates that are available usually for narrowing a beam to repair the beam back to safe service with out narrowing the beam? Thanks

Not sure about the aftermarket end plates. But you could always call busted bus. I'm sure they have an OG set.

IS this for the front beam?

good question. I figured he meant rear beam when he used the term plate.

That sounds like a lot of work to end up with a standard beam. Admittedly the tubes don't usually rust so it should be possible though if you're a decent welder with a decent welder.

Be prepared to discover that the beam is reluctant to come off due to being rusted to the frame!
