I'd like to find some cabinets to bolt in to my van to replace the center seats. I'm thinking something like a bench, with an upholstered, padded top, and drawers beneath it or a lid that lifted to reveal storage space. If it came to exactly the right height to extend the sleeping surface when the z-bed is folded down, so much the better.

I'm hoping there's a relatively easily sourced piece of furniture that is exactly the right dimensions and can be securely bolted down with hardly any modifications. Anyone do such a mod? Can I run to Ikea tomorrow and make it happen?

Ran outside during break to measure it. A storage unit/bench that's 17" tall, 20.5" or so wide, and a bit under 43" long would be perfect.

I'll be looking around for such a beast, and I'll post if I find one.

Seems to me that plywood, some 2x4 and screws will provide you with the exact dimensions you need (and a lot cheaper). You could even be a little bit fancy and laminate it in grey to make it look nice.
