View original topic: Propane "T" for stock size OEM tank?

Does anyone have a brand an part number for a T or an extend-a-stay unit that fits the stock size OEM LP tank? GW's only fits the larger size LP tank not the stock size (different threads).

Ultimately I want to be able to hook up a grill or stove while leaving my Propex heater connected.

I don't have a part number but mine was bought at the local RV store (Fraserway) and it's called "Extend-A-stay" During my search I also sourced a local company that supplies the valves for the tank at a very reasonable price. I paid around $80 for all three pieces for the tank. Canadian dollars.

You can buy just the Tee or the Tee and the hose. I bought both and use it for my BBQ and Coleman stove. They are worth it to me.

I may be wrong but I don't think this will recharge your main tank but rather equalize both tanks. You'd still
have gas in the 1#er.

The propane stored in the tanks is primarily a liquid. In liquid form it is more than 250 times as dense as when it is a gas. Holding the small green bottle upside down lets the liquid drain into the other tank. Yes, the green bottle will still have gas in it when you are done but 99% of the propane will be gone from it.

Mark, do you have to have the vapor cap open when preforming the above as you would with a normal refill at a station?

What about doing this with a 20# tank, same method?

I don't advocate transferring propane in bulk between containers. Other people can do it.

Nope. Does not work for what I originally posted.

With what you describe you want to do, I would say the "Extend A Flow" fitting is what you want.
This fitting will allow you to branch off your tank and connect to a stove or grill or any other propane
appliance.
The "Extend A Stay" has an additional port so you could attach an additional propane tank so your Propex
would still be functionable while your main tank was empty.

Looks like just what I need. I knew of the Extend-A-Stay but didn't know about the Extend-A-Flow. Thanks Timwhy!
