Hello all. I have an 83 Vanagon that I'm slowly fixing issues on as they come up. My most recent one is the parking brake light in the dash does not illuminate when the brake is engaged. I have ruled out a burnt out bulb by swapping it out with the seat belt warning light (which works fine). Next, I removed the parking brake boot and cleaned the contact where the wire runs to the switch and also made sure the switch was making and breaking contact. Still nothing. I also checked the pin connector that goes to the light cluster and didn't see any kind of damage. Can anyone tell me what else to check or look for? Or explained how the switch is ultimately wired to the light so I can track it down further. Does it go to the fuse panel or could it possibly be a ground issue? Thanks all.

I think the wire runs under the driver's seat next to the seat belt relay. Start tracing with a meter. Do you have a Bentley ? Can you meter out ground at the floor switch and light bulb?
