Anybody ever painted a bug with Hammerite "hammered finish"? I'm thinking of painting mine with it and was wondering if somebody else has and if it can be sprayed with a gun easily...
Here's a link to their web site:

Thanks!!!

| I've used Hammerrite for years to paint engine tins, suspension parts, etc. The "hammered" finish I've only found locally in aresol cans and it lays down smoother and cleaner than any spray paint I've ever tried. The thick paint sold in pints can be cut but I was told at the paint store that it wasn't the best idea. I brush it on for painting pans and if applied properly with a new brush it flows almost glass smooth with very little to no brush marks. It holds up remarkably well to abuse and adheres to practically anything. GOOD stuff! |

| I have been contemplating the thought of using it on my pan as well. years ago used the brush on hammerite hammered finish on my dads utility trailer. Looked soo cool when done (old Ford bed) with flames and all that jazz. Just saw the trailer this last summer and still looks great inside and out. My dad abuses the shit out of it too and that finish is soo strong!! |

I've got good experiences with hammerite to.
The only downside I noticed is that they claim it can be used as a rust solver......That's not true! (I was 16 at the time, i didn' know better  )
If you use hammerite over rust it wil hold longer than a regular paint cause it's more flexible.
But after a while it cracks and the rust allready did it's work
So be sure to remove the rust first! Than it's a great product. |
