Hi,
I am looking at getting a vehicle to get me to and from school and work every day, as well as be fun to drive off-road on my days off. Is there any way to make a Baja bug with a stock oil cooled VW motor start and run reliably in the cold Colorado mornings, and is there an effectively heat the bug? or is a baja bug DD in cold temps a terrible idea that I should abandon before starting and buy a lame Subaru instead like everyone else drives around here?
thanks |

The smart thing to do is buy a nice new car. But where is the fun in that?
There are about a billion threads on here where people ask this exact question. The answer: yes, it can be done. |

Yes, you can, to the first question. Who cares about heat ? You live in Colorado. Just drive it and pretend like it's Germany. |

Get a good jacket and a friend with a nice, reliable pickup truck on speed dial and you should have no problems. |

Both my brother and I have DD'd VW's in Salt Lake just over the mountains from you. Never had an issue.
Buy some good gloves though. |
