I was just wanting to know if anyone has some info on this bug. It says - air cooled type 1 vw bug, Panama's 2006, 2007 GT2 champ, invited to RED BULL'S F1 show at calle 50 in 2007.

looks and sounds like a fun box to me......Ive never seen any body shift a dog box using the clutch and be that good.possissiably not dogeystyle.he might need 1/2" taller tire for those long straightaways.

He has a no lift shift system. Anyone have any info of that on a vw?

you can lift off throttel just a tad or add a momentery kill switch/ignition interupter....or both. but usualy you cant use the clutch for shifts with these systems or it's pertty hard on parts.with that said i have no idea what type or kind of trans he has....but I want one for my 356...and my bug!!!

I can't tell wtf he's doing is he shifting between 2 gears or 3 . Looks crazy fun though

Is it actually Aircooled Powered, or is the bodywork of that era. Europe has a Fun Cup Series that runs a tube chassis, mid engined racer with a fiberglass Beetle body. http://www.funcup.co.uk/

My guess is it a sequential gearbox which means that he has to change through all gears up and down.

These gearboxes are manufactured for racing cars here in Australia, exported worldwide for all categories of vehicles.

Manufacturer is Holinger Engineering.

That could either be a 5 or 6 speed box, available in H pattern or sequential forward and back.

Sounds like a a/c engine.

Hardcore!!

In comments he says it's a Hewland gearbox, which is way cool.
This means probably the older hewland setup that uses a VW trans case and diff and so forth but of course the gears and shifter not stock!!
Such gearboxes were used for road racing mostly mid-engined but you can go either way.

Holinger gearboxes were based on the Hewland type.
