| i have a lincoln weld-pak 100. a wire feed welder. i recently purchased the mig conversion kit along with some 75 argon/25 co2 gas. the welds are much cleaner, but it makes a very pronounced popping sound. as i weld, it appears some of the wire is melting into a ball onto the end of the wire coming out of the gun. as the ball drops, it makes the popping sound. can anyone help me find a solution to eliminating that sound, because im pretty sure its not right. |

Hold the tip 3/8" to 1/2" from the material.
Also try turning up the wire speed a hair. |

Turn it up to 20.
What wire are you using? |

Try some .023. Smaller wire works better with the smaller welders on light gauge.
And L56 is about one of the best so stick with it. |

| the mig kit came with a small spool of .025? i'll give that a try in the near future. home depot didnt have any of the large spools of .025, so we got the .030 |

Don't forget to change the tip.
I would use a .023/.025 tip. The .030 would be a little big. The liner will be ok. |

| It is normal for solid wire to make that loud sound, compared to Innershield. You will have to experiment with heat settings and wirespeed to make proper welds. |

| thanks alot, both of you. my dad went to a welding supply store and they said to turn up the wire feed. that turned out to be it. we messed with the other settings and finally got it to a pretty decent setting |
