| It was so cool today I am cleaning up the heater boxes to be painted for the engine that will be built. Low and behold I see the date stamp on them. 7/71 on both of them. I find that great as they are the real deal VW German heater boxes. Same month and year much to my amazement. |

I found the same thing this past summer when stripping the fuel tank from my 412.
Way on the back against the firewall on the welded flange...only visible when stripped to bare metal...was the date stamp matching the month and year the car was built in.
I photographed it well before repainting with epoxy. Ray |
