I've got a 2110 in my 1970 bus, looking to get a bit more out of it and wondered if IDA's would 1: give it much more and 2: be drivable on the street.
Current engine specs are:
90.5 x 82
5.4 rods
Engle FK 8 cam
1.4:1 rockers
DRD L5's 40x35.5
Weber 48 IDF's
Bosch 009 with Petronix
Merged header with mondo exhaust
All lightened & balanced etc |

I have a 2180 with IDAs and it is very drivable. Same cam, 42x37 heads and Bosch 010. |

ids's would be cool, but also consider some 45 or 48 dells.
ive got 45 dells on a 2180
40x35.5 044s
fk7 cam
bsoch 010
drives like a stocker til you renumber how to put your foot down lol.
granted its in a bug but it gets 32-35 mpgs freeway @ 70-75 mph |

It would not give it enough to be worth the expense. |

Stock 48 IDFs flow higher than stock IDAs. They have 40mm venturies and IDAs have 37. If you have 40mm venturies, you might want to drop to a 36 or 37 to get improved driveability. You'll also need to re-jet.
If you really want to make gains, and have $1000 to spend on carbs, then buy some CB Mini Wedgeports or DRD L6s with tall IDF manifolds. 40x35 valved heads don't work well with a 2 liter and FK8 with 1.4s. Too much lift. |

Ok chaps cheers, just a thought is all. The combo of 2 litre, FK 8 and 1.4's seems too work. Made 165hp on the rolling road |

Imo,
Because of the valve size you're wasting the potential of what the 48s can do. They flow well if the rest of the combo is proportionate. You need 42x37s not idas. Personally, i think steve tims stage 1 plus or stage 2s are what you need. Keep the cam as is. |

i have a 2110 with FK10 and IDA's and it runs great.
engine is in a beetle and not in a bus.
i think 165bhp is pretty good all ready for a bus.

For a 2110 with an FK-8 & 1.4's in a heavy Bus the DRD L5 40x35.5 heads are the correct size. The 48 IDA's will not do any good. What you really need is 36mm venturies in your 48 IDF carbs and rejet them. |

I thought 48's were a bit to big for a bus motor too,
I'm going with 40idf's and stock valved heads on my 2110, w110
K@rlos what MERGED header did you use?????????
The mustashBar is in the way for a true merged,at least on my bus  |
