Anyone realty bother painting engines anymore? I have mine pressure washed and ready to be checked by the machine company before rebuilding. I thought about painting it silver so I can see any oil leaks but figured why bother but then since I'm getting the tins powdercoated the engine would look like crap with new tins on it.

I'm definitely painting the tranny though.

Decisions, decisions......

Painting the engine case is a big no no!
If you do your liable to end up in one of those abortion threads.

It's been beaten to death.

Yes, people do paint them, but you better be meticulous in the prep. Because it will peel off sooner or later.

Such a small part of the case shows, it's really not worth it... unless its a 'show car" and rarely driven.

I would normally only paint the case area around the pulley for cosmetic appearance back in the day.
Nowadays, I don't waste my time.

Not a show car, just a body off restored driver. Wont be painting it, thanks!

Could always use a handheld little sand blaster to clean up the case and give it a uniform appearance. Just tape up all the places it could enter the engine.
