Got my 71 a couple of weekes ago and have made some progress on it so far we've gotten the dash out, washed all the green off washed the inside, cleaned the liner, sanded down the nose and grinded the bottom, sanded and got the dash ready to be painted.

doesn't look like A 71 looks like A 72.Has the bigger tail lights first year for them are 72 along with lower front blinkers ,last year for them are 72.

on the sticker behind the driver seat it said 8/71

JoshuaS815 Wed May 27, 2015 8:51 pm

ok yeah sorry a 72

kevhum Wed May 27, 2015 8:54 pm

model year would start in aug 71.so any thing after aug 71 would be A model year 72.The third digit in the serial number would be A 2 which would represent 72.Yes the bus was made in 71 but it is A model year 72.If you try to order some parts for A 71 you could run into problems with them being the right part.

Time for some tough love! Judging from the pictures only... to get that bus to the very base level of roadworthiness will be a major undertaking for a person with the skills, tools, time, persistence, and money. Not trying to crush your hopes but just giving you my honest perspective. Maybe you can find a more complete bus and use this one for parts? Just something to consider before you dive in...😊
