View original topic: Which Fresh Air Box?

I have a '72 Super that was in less-than-prime condition when I bought it. The fresh air box and all the hardware are missing. Does anyone have any interchange info on this part? What years had the fresh air box, what year is specific to my car, etc. I attempted to buy one from a guy but he said it was from a '74 Super and he didn't think it was the same as a '72's and therefore might not fit. Any help would be appreciated.

You need one from a 71 or 72 they have a defrost fan built in them and are mot the same as a regular bug...

73 and later do not even have one... the dash etc was re designed.

I checked a couple weeks ago on these. Schaffner motors in Lynnwood, WA (wee bit north of Seattle) had one, but the fan (which is a 2-speed) only works on one speed. I know these motors can be repaired, but they're getting pretty hard to find in any condition. There's also a seal between the box and the trunk lid, but those seem readily available. I didn't ask how much they wanted for it. Shaffner's website:

Good luck -
