Yes, I know but a 30mm Pump is what is there. Full flow, remote filter, and cooler runing 10/40 to keep pressure low enough not to blow out/off stuff. Question is can a extended 4500+ rmp run for 1+ minute be pumping oil faster than it return to the sump? Pressure was about 40 psi as opposed to the norm or 70 psi on short runs while accelerating.

It could, do you have an extra sump? The thicker oil will take longer to return, I run 5-30.

Straight line, flat road, or a curvy on-ramp? How hard is the car accelerating at 4500 rpm, what kind of engine? Yeah, I find it easy to get low pressure readings, but generally only in very tight hairpin turns,at speed, and for me it usually means it's time to check the oil level. 10W-30, no extra sump, 26 mm pump,"windage" pushrod tubes (for what that's worth :? ) pulls to 5300.

%%mph country hwy. happened while trying to catch my hit and run drunk driver. Ran flat out for 2 miles. 1915, cwcrank. 4063 cam, dual carbs, rail, no sump.

I hope that your ride wasn't damaged to badly. However, you may have never stressed out your engine, the way that you were during the chase. This might have meant higher temps, and thinner oil = less pressure. How is it behaving now?

add a sump.

I haven't had time to mess with it since I trailered it home after I was rearended.Guess I should man up and try it before a adjuster shows up.

really?
So you're saying 5-30 oil is thinner at (for example) 100C than 20-50?

the engine builder said vr120/50. 2 hose blowoffs and 1 filter seal later I stuck in 10/40. With 10/40 20 psi @idle and topped out at 65. When flat out I saw only 40, thats when I shut off. I was curious because I had just bee rearended. I never saw lower, is 40 psi @ 4500 enough to prevent damage?

NOPE
