I am going to to replace the paneling on my westy (71') here soon. Mainly the drivers side at the dining table. Any tips/tricks when R/R the seats/120 outlet etc..
I may tackle the roof too, It looks like a fairly easy task, but I'm usually wrong when it comes to that sort of thing :)
I found some solid shiny white hardboard paneling at Home Depot I thought would liike nice on the side, Allthough I'm not real sure how that would look on the roof. Anyone use some of the run of the mill unfinished paneling from like home depot and whitewashed it to give it the OG look or anything like that?
Many thanks |

Hi
I just recently finished my paneling last weekend and it turned out pretty darn nice.
If this helps...
I got my wood from Home Depot. It was called luan i think it was around 8 dollars a piece 4x8-1/8 inch thick.
For the roof, everyone says that the original roof was made out of Baltirc Birch 5x5 - 1/8 inch thick, however Home Depot i think only has this in 1/4 inch - 4x8 plus I wanted to get the same type of Luan Wood as my paneling but like I said before, Home Depot only has 4x8. I finally did find someone that makes Baltic Birch 5x5 [Ganaul Lumber]. I still was eager to get the 5x5 Luan, however no one carries luan in 5x5, so i got the 5x5 baltic birch.
The paneling is pretty damn easy as long as you have templates and time!
A good pointer that someone told me is to put some type of soundproofing when you put the panels in. Home Depot also has this [Its some silver/bubbly stuff in which they use for air condition tubes, etc] I thinik the roll is about 40 bucks.
Hope this helps!
OH AND IF ANYONE KNOWS A MANUFACTURER WHO HAS LUAN 5x5... PLEASE LET ME KNOW !! |

Thanks for the tips, In your pics I don't see the Z bed removed, can you work around it or is that gonna need pulled?
I haven't even done any measuring so Iam glad you mentioned it needs 5x5 for the ceiling. Luckily my ceiling is in really good shape just the white paint (or stain) is on its last legs so maybe I will just take it down and revamp it. The wall on the other hand has some damage thanks to the vent window. |

Yeah, you need to remove practically everything including the table. There is no way to get the paneling out and in without removing the z-bed. It real easy to move just look it up in the bentley manuel or go buy one!

| Your original headliner will probably look fabulous if you just sand it down, then maybe give it a clear coat or two of laquer! Jeremy |
