Well I say finished, I still have to sandblast and paint but other than some
small differences this is the design. The plate metal is 1/4" steel and the
pipe is 1-1/2 steel (thick wall) pipe. It's all made of heavy strong material
yet only weighs about 65 pounds. The spare mount (optional) is 1/8" plate
with 3 bolts threaded outward so you can hang the spare on it just like lug
bolts. This design will fit all models with similar bumper attachment as a
1971 model. I believe that to be 69 - 72. Once I get my hands on a later
model to do some measuring/designing I will make some of those also.

Very cool. Are you goin to weld in any metal to protect the headlights from rocks/brush?

I like....I like. I am interested in a later model version of those. What would be an approximate cost?

llamas1 Tue Feb 17, 2004 10:13 am

I'm thinking $275

jeremyrockjock Tue Feb 17, 2004 10:22 am

Very nice. What did you use to roll the tube?

llamas1 Tue Feb 17, 2004 11:32 am

An electric pipe roller. Each bend had to be made with two bends.
90 degrees, then take it out, flip it around and bend the other side
to make the 180 degrees. This was the hardest part of the whole project.

Not planning on anthing to protect the headlights.

a little paint makes a big diference.

Bolts to hold on the spare

What is that green stuff behind the concrete parking lot?

Is that grass?

Some nice off-road lights added to that would look "hella" cool (hahaha!)

Nice job, are you selling them?

llamas1 Wed Feb 18, 2004 6:06 pm

Yes, only for years that are the same as 71. I believe thats 69 -72. $275 + shipping
