after a cooking of pot 3 on my bus.driving at 65 on a standard lump would do this!!,im thinking off rebuilding using 1641 pots and pistons.is it worth the extra cash.does it make much difference to your cruise speed?will they run good using the origonal 34 pict carb?or shall i just rebuild using standard 1600 pots and reduce my cruise speed?

1641 Pistons are crap. They run hot because they are thinner. If you want more CC's pay the cahs and get you case and heads bored. I would suggest the 90.5 or machine fit 88mm P/C's.

I agree. Do a search on the 1641 as it relates to bus owners and you will read several horror stories of failed motors. It works great in a beetle, but it overheats in a bus.

After reading about the failures I'm going to spend the money and build a 1776.

Stick with stock or as posted move on up to thick wall machine fit 88's or 90.5's... 87's are notorious for failing at the cylinder to head sealing surface.
