I've had some really weird replys from them- One day they say the item is sold- then it comes avail. for some outrageous price-

I had a bad experience with Joe also. basically his M.O. is that he finds stuff that is for sale locally in the portland area and posts it on thesamba for a few hundred more dollars than what the people are asking for it. he is not incredibly knowledgeable about what to look for. you can read more of my comments warning people in this post from the split bus forum:

i was rudely introduced to "joe" at the woodburn swapmeet,he came up and tried starting some sh?t with me, very weird dude,also turned out to be a big pussy,it seems his name is not joe,a few poeple said his name was somthing else but that he uses fake names?i will see if i can get a pic of him at the next meet,hes a short kinda fat mexican lookin fella,i have a friend who says this character stopped by his house and said he had a company named "bugbros" apparently he wanted to restore his bug for him,needless to say my buddy ran him off because he didnt have a clue what he was talking about,what pisses me off is that he lives in my town and has kinda put a rotten stamp on it(well ok there are a couple wierdos in the vw scene/samba scene up here)just want to make clear i am not affiliated in any way to anyone who advertizes on the samba,my stuff is legit and so am i,Adam Hughes portland oregon

:idea: For what it's worth I've phoned his number (the last one I had) which is [phone number removed] and his cousin 'Amber' answered. She didn't know his new number but he still lives at [address removed].
I've informed this young lady that her cousin Joe is going to be in real trouble because what he has committed is internet fraud. She apparently is going to speak with him and hopefully ( :shock: ) he'll mend his ways.
Irregardless, I think anyone who's been ripped off by this 'pond scum' needs to phone that number listed above and tell her what's happening. Maybe with her help we can stomp this guy into the ground.

well i just saw "joe"(not his real name) and i have found his address,anyone whos been ripped off by him please email me i will give you his address,now for the new name hes going under here on the samba, hes going under surfergirl and his ads say from portland oregon,ive contacted thesamba and informed them,hopefully they can remove him again,hes advertized a 62 single cab just recently,i will assist as much as possible in poeples search for "joe" hes really a bad apple and makes it difficult to sell being from portland,thanks adam

it's funny, i think the bus you're talking about was a 58 double-door panel. three extra high-hinge doors, extra motor, etc. dove blue, plus a bunch of other colors...

anyway, it was in my hometown, saw it one day, went to look at it over lunch and ended up buying it. couldn't say no. got it for wicked cheap. it's actually a solid old bus...anyway, in complete restoration stages now. hope to have it on the road this winter.

he mentioned you had been there to look at it. and that you thought it was worth way more than what i bought it for, just that you couldn't get it back to idaho. i don't know...

anyway, would be curious to hear what you think about this bus. i ended up just getting it because i thought i was in the right place at the right time and couldn't say no...

anyway, i didn't have any problem with joe...in fact i thank him for my bus.
