After driving my '79 bay window 8 hours from San Francisco to Los Angeles, I noticed the bus sputtering at stops. The next time I tried to start it, the bus would not stay on, but just sputter out. If I floor the gas pedal, the bus stays on but at a VERY low idle. It feels like it is out of gas, but there is plenty of gas. Could this be a fuel filter issue? Fuel pump? Vacuum? Distributor looks good, no corrosion |

I think a vacuum leaks would be a like cause. Check for any hoses that might have fallen off or plain broke in two. |

did it start slowly over the whole trip or suddenly?
is it a 1979 Federal with points or 1979 California with an electronic ignition? |

X2, points? or electronic, and if points is the rubbing block intact? (gap/dwell OK?)
And assumedly fuel injected, no? |

Found a hose missing coming out of the charcoal canister, don't know if that makes a difference. It is a 79 federal with points. It is fuel injected. Rubbing block looks good. It started suddenly right after it had cooled down from the trip. |

Check the timing and dwell first before anything else. |
