i think i have just picked up a bargain !!!

My local vw mechanic gave me a ring and said he had an early bay window seat for sale and did i want it ? Too right i said !!!

Anyway i gat there and it is a middle seat of the type which has the third fold down seat st the end and in pretty good nick. All the handles are there, even the ashtray with the chrome surround.

Here is the best bit, what i paid for it £15 (roughly $20), how good is that!!!

Anyway question i wanted to ask you folks was how rare are these and how do you properly fix it to the floor ?

I dont know the answer to your question but I'm pictureing you out on a hunting expedition with a pack of beagles in tow, musket at the ready.

Cheerio.

I bought the same type of seat for my 71 Bay. They attach to the floor the same way the rear seat does. I think there are four different rows onto which you attach the seat clamps. I also bought some headrests for them. I'm not sure how rare they are, but I love my seat. My rubber mat didn't have the cut-outs for the clamps next to the sliding door so I cut them out myself. Good find!

Ah-ha. Enlightenment.

That's what I did'nt get with this seat, the clamps. Do you know of any other way of fixing this in ?

not sure of the situation in the U.K. but it seems many folks in the U.S. removed the seats from their transporter to convert them to campers. i would suggest you scour local scrap yards in hope of finding the clamps. if you have no luck i'll be parting a transporter soon and have the clamps though Pennsylvania and England are a great distance apart for shipping such small items. congratulatuions on your find and good luck!

I dont know about in the UK, but lots of buses here were camperized (either ata factory or at home.) And the middle seat is tossed in such circumstances. So lots of busses here are missing them.

If it looks good to you, and makes you happy then iy is in deed a great find.

For me, I just wish I could find a westy stool that wasnt 100 bucks.

Thanks folks.

Looks like i'll have to go searching for the elusive clamps. Going to the volksworld show at the end of march so see if i can spot anything there.
