Splitwindow ragtop, my buddy has a 1949 rag. I didn't think they made this until 1950....about April. I.D. Plate is 1949.. I'm too drunk to read the number...anybody got any info on this. There is no stitching on the body, and the front part of the "Rag" is just a straight piece of sheetmetal.
Thanx,
Al

Its a transplant. The first sunroofs were in 1950.

The Tucher made rollback (not sliding) ragtop conversions (not sure from what year but I know they were around in '49).

Gee.... you really think it's worth $500?

I really felt bad for your friend, so i did start the offer out a little high!

99% bet its a fake. The roll backs were in the mid (like 46-47). About 90% of the ragtops out there that are splits are fake (if not more). Only way to tell is look at the front id plate. If it is a type 11 "G" instead of 11 "C", its most likely real. The only way to confirm is to get the letter from the museum.

1950 was the first year for the ragtop.

Here is the real deal...no cut in here.

And a picture from 1951 of the same car from the lady I bought the car from!

That is so awsome but what is up with those head lights :?:

Wiggy Sun Feb 22, 2004 8:56 pm

Those headlights were sealed beam accessory headlights made by Marcal (sp?). Laws in NJ at the time required sealed beam headlights. The only way to get those, was to have these nasty looking things on. They are no longer on the car.
