Anybody know where I can get the rubber pieces that go inside the doors to keep them open? The one in my driver's side door won't keep my door open on anyting other than level ground.
I also need the sliding door spring for the catch that holds it locked back- I can't seem to find it anywhere either?
Thanks |

I don't know what rubber piece you are referring to, but on my '73 bus, it is a spring steel door check assembly, it's like a big cotter pin in shape, that has two partial open positions. I did not see any in the RMMW catalogue. I'd try a wrecking yard if new ones can't be found. Same for the catch spring.

There's a picture of the piece. I'm trying to find a new one, but nobody seems to have them. None of the salvage yards anywere near me have old VWs- "Sorry, we crushed 'em all" |

Hiya Bajatacoma,
Insofar as your sliding door problem goes............ The springs are not available. You will have to get a new (used) Sliding Hinge Link Assembly. That's the only way the boneyards will let them go. And, expect to cough up about $50 for it . No local boneyards? Try one of the online busnisses like Way-Out.
