Looking for Wiper Blade refills for Bug Wiper Blades 1958-1964. Met a fella at Bad Camberg 2015 who was selling it off the roll per metre, but failed to make the purchase!! Any leads to his whereabouts would be gratefully accepted!

Thanks for the link. Its just the rubber inserts I need, as I really want to retain the original SWF holders.

If you can't find the roll of rubber, then just buy the WW ones and remove the rubber. Then reinstall in your original wiper blades. Simple.

Gotta ask - I have yet to use early wiper blades that did much good (WW). I broke down and converted her 61 to universal arms that use more conventional blades. They dot look as noce, but now she doesnt freak when it rains.

Are there usable ones out there?

How does one replace only the rubber on the stock blades? I've tried to pry those open but never found a way to do it without ruining them. But I've never tried some of the metal bending equipment I vaguely recall from high school metal shop...

To me, the wimpy stock wiper arms are as much to blame as the simple wipers. I switched to the improved design that were around in the 1970, on both of my bugs many years ago now. With those, the stock blades can work pretty good, but I've seen some reproductions that weren't that great.

Having said that, I had gone away from using the stock non-refillable wiper blades - I got some vintage refillable SWF blades several years ago and kept refilling them as they aged.

However I did try an experiment - ANCO, the big wiper blade company, makes an Industrial line of wiper blades for flat glass (like on locomotive windows) that are remarkably similar to the stock VW flat blades. They are beefier, but they are sturdy and durable. I acquired a 20" blade, cut it in half, and then adapted the two pieces to fit stock VW bases... and they've been on my Baja for like 3 years now. Which is parked outside... I don't drive it very much any more but they've held up pretty well. I talked about this a while back in this thread:
