Im buying a 65 sedan. What kind of engine came with the car? I plan on rebuilding the engine instead of putting a larger engine.

A type 113 deluxe model is a 1200 40hp a standard or "A" sedan is a 1200 36hp. Why add a standard models here in this thread? Plenty of gray market cars came here, especially Type 111's called 1200 customs. And in my 65's case a American who brought his car over from Europe.

you can use the numbers and letters on the case located just below the generator pedestal to determine the year of manufature and case type. if the ends of the intake manifold are flat where they touch the heads then it is most probably a 1200. but the only way to know for sure about displacement is head removal and measure the bore and stroke.

Yeah, that's a 1965 model year engine number - October 1964.

So I take it that it does have the 1200 style intake manifold then.

Our engines are practically brothers....mine is 9003779 (original to my car). Not sure how many were produced each week or day, but we must be close!
