| I am preparing to weld in a patch for a small rust hole on the side of my Thing (there is one on either side) that is right in front of the rear fenders on the lower part of the body. With this hole you can access a normally enclosed body cavity. Rust through in this spot seems common on Things. Im wondering what the best thing I can use to spray in this body cavity before I weld up the hole would be. I am obviously going to try and wire brush and clean in there as best I can but you defineatly can't reach everything in there and all I can really do to clean it out will be to stick a small shop vac tube in there. I am going to be buying por 15 probably for the pans and some other things probably but I don't really want to try and deal with spraying it and this is an area that sees absolutely no wear so it doesnt have to be a tough coating I just need the rust totally neutralized. I have some stuff in a spray can that neutralizes rust and turns it black made by duplicolor and I know there are other companies that make similar spray but I want to make sure whatever I use will do the best job. Thanks |

Since you're welding a patch in anyway, why not enlarge the hole? Make it big enough to really reach in there.
Then use something like Picklex-20. It's a spray-able liquid that will run into those hard to reach places.
Do a search for "Picklex" and you'll find more info, and the link to it.
