hello y'all,
so i ordered my pertronix from bus depot (i now know i should have gotten it from that other place, ratwell) and was looking at old threads about how to install it when i found lots of trouble in front of me. i have a 77 westy, which as far as i know has the original fuel injected engine. but i dont know what kind of distributor i have. can someone explain the difference between the 009 and the vacuum advance. and were all FI models 2.0. and are there other variations in the 72-79 vans that i need to know about when ordering parts. i just told the boys at bus depot i had a 77 van and this is what i got. not wrapped in plastic, i might add.
i promise i am learning from all these stupid newbie questions,

It's your money. Maybe Bus Depot will drop ship it from RMMW. :)
The first fuel injected bus was in 1975 which was an 1800cc. Technically the 74 CA Automatic bus was FI. I've never seen one but they exist based on the part numbers.
The 205 distributor which is what you have is basically a 009 with a vacuum can on the side. The advance curves are not exact but you get the idea.
If you have a 77 bus you are in the 76-79 category of 2L engine parts which is also the best one to be in for fuel injection because the parts hardly changed (ECU changed twice a year, one for manual, one for automatic).

What did you get exactly? |

According to the Pertronix catalog you need an 1847V for a stock '77 bus dizzy.....

| Unfortunately, the 1847A does not fit a stock FI dizzy- it will fit the 009 and the 050. I had/have the same problem; I bought the Pertronix from BusDepot, assumed it was right (yeah, I know), and didn't get around to messing with it for a while. Of course when I looked at it, I discovered there was no way in hell this was correct- and I can't return it because it's "electrical parts". Anybody want a 1847A at a good price? |

I'd sure like to see a photo of it and the inside of your distributor.
I put an 1847V into my stock distributor (78 bus, FI) and it fit just fine. |

The 009 version is mounted on a ring and the vacuum version is c-shaped.
Just as an FYI if you ruin your magnetic sleeve you can buy a new one for $11.79. New modules are $49.50. Ouch. |
