Quick question about the above, I've got the opportunity to fit one of the above, just wondered if anyone had any experience, are they a good fit etc? It looks like a glass pack style silencer.

Do you have a picture or a link? Did they even make a Cyclone header for Type-3? I've only seen Type-1 style Cyclone headers.

Yeah. I'm having second thoughts tbh and thinking of going for a Vintage Speed setup. My existing OEM style exhaust is patched up with gun gum and various patches and is not long for this world so need a replacement. Unfortunately OEM type replacements are few and far between here.

It might be as you start out, but then it'll probably sound more mellow after you're in cruise mode. If you're not hard on the gas, it's actually fairly quiet.

It looks similar to a header with a cherry bomb on it. I've ran them before, and they're not as bad as they look. It should have a nice tone to it.

Thanks that reassures me a bit :) my other half used to run a mexi bug with straight thru on, can't be as noisy as that, right? Lol

looks similar to the Kadron 2 bolt header/cherry bomb - they actually sounded good. If the price is right, I'd at least try it

Wow. Gotta break out VW magazines from the '70s to see one of those new. That's a classic. A loud classic at that.

Right, guess that's it then, it's going on :) Will report back when it's fitted.

Cool. Im interested to know the results...

Should have this on by weekend, will report back, will try to get a video sorted also :)
I've used this type of ducting for the fan housing to heat exchangers, it sits close to the header, am I as well to add some heat wrap around it to protect the ducting do you think, or will it be up to the job?

that silicone hose will work just fine as long as it's not coming in direct contact with the exhaust tubes. Mine is still like new after a couple years of daily driving.

Spencervee just recently restored a Formula Vee exhaust similar to that and installed it on his Beetle. He posted pics of it toward the end of this thread. 8)

Sounds pretty good to me....

Chino_UK Sun Dec 06, 2015 7:53 am

Yes, I'm very pleased with it, it doesn't drone on the run but just deepens the sound nicely.
