This is my 2nd oil filter mount and it is leaking at the "out" line of the mount. I have attempted new fittings and new lines and even a 2nd oil filter mount but it keeps leaking. What the hell is going on! Can anyone tell me of another oil filter mount other then Bugpack. I think the ones they are making are CRAP!
Thanks and have a good day! |

| If its leaking out of the fittings, use some teflon tape on the threads. |

| I've found either loc-tite, or pipe thread sealer paste from HomeDepot works awesome. Bone dry joints with either of these methods. |

| I used a high temp thread sealant (white paste), but I do not think that is working well. I have heard of Loctite before and my brother uses it but I have never. I think that I need to get a better tapered fitting plus loctite. Thanks for all your help. |

first, make sure your fittings are right, if the mount uses pipe thread, make sure the hoses have pipe thread on them. you'll probably have to take the mount off and the lines and go to someone who makes hydrolic hoses or deals with brass fittings. they can look at it and make sure it's right. most old school hardware & parts houses can help you.
i work at a napa in ga and we get some people that think pipe thread seals everything (JIC, inverted flare, SAE) properly. it might seal it once or twice, but your tearing the threads up.
good luck |

| Ah ha! It worked! Loctite did the job! Now the other one is leaking! That one is next! It said that it takes 10 min to set and 24 hours to fully cure so I let by bug alone for the 24 hours and today when I got back from work, I started her up and drove up a hill at high RPMs, when I got to the top, I checked the lines and the one that I goobed up is fine but the other one is leaking a just a little bit. No big deal. It is way better then the other one where that was leaking about a quart of oil a day. I feel bad for the fish. My wife killed me when I told her how much oil I was spitting out. She is a biologist for NOAA and NMFS and works with killer whales, so a lot of oil from my other wife on to the wet streets of seattle got the other wife pissed pissed off. They are not good friends. Thanks for your help guys! |
