hi all
I want to buy a pair of floor pans in mid to late april for my superbeetle. I need the ones with the humps for the front seats. I'm probably gonna go with a mail order company( from the back of hot vws's) because I dont think I can afford them from my local vw shop. My concern is where should I go to get them. Are all floor pans the same or is there a difference? If so I want a good thick pair from a company that ships reliably. Is there any one parts scource to avoid? Y'all please let me know what to do, Any horror stories and anything else I might need to know..
Thanks all.

| SoCal Imports are really good to work with. I haven't bought floor pans but I have bought running boards, window glass, seat buns, etc... big box items. They ship fast, customer service is great, no complaints. :) |

compare the cost loca to being shipped in... those pans with the humps can be expensive UPS.... plus they charge you boxing fees |

| Well like I said I didn't buy pans but I did buy some other big box items. You're right, I did have some box charges and they'll stick you on shipping but for me it's the only way to get some parts. The used parts are here but new sheet metal? Mail order. Stolen's just asking for help and I offered my $.02. |

I'm interested in this subject as well.
Has anyone ever had or heard of someone who has had a bad experience with a replacement pan half?
I've seen them offered from various vendors that I would expect come from either Mexico or Brasil, but then I see these pan quarters, suposedly 1/3 thicker than others [although no specs are givin], from oeveedub.com. These are from Denmark. I need to replace a complete half [damage in both front and rear], and would prefer it complete rather than having to frankenstein the thing together.
I want to do it right. I'm not overly concerned with price as much as I am with quality. If there is a superior product out there I'd like to know.

| I got mine from OEveedub. They sell the Klokkerholm (Danish) pans, which are thicker than the others. (These may be the ones that Aircooled.net sells too.) They're rock solid, no flex when you stand on them, but they come only in quarter sections, and you need to buy the seat humps separately too (or reuse your old ones, as I did). I was worried about the "Frankenstein look" at first, but the extra seam between front and rear panels is barely noticable and, if properly welded, actually creates a new support beam running across the pan under the seat hump. I highly recommend these pans! |

Hey, I was not bashing on you, just diddn't understand the reasoning for your " I'm not in cali" post...
alot of people have no choice but to mail order, all I was saying is if there is a shop or parts store that has or can get pans( or other bulky items)... check with them... sometimes it is the same cost or even less than a " cheaper priced pan plus shipping" ( at least for the 73 and later style pans)
(pans ship UPS "oversized 2" in a box approx 12"X24"x130" and it's not cheap.)
and for some reason or another sometimes they (UPS) refuses shipment on full pans with the center hump attached... some suppliers will only send those by truck as they have had UPS kick shipments back.
This one reason why the started selling pans with the center hump separate ( cheaper shipping) and you can just weld them on when installing the pans.
and you get to look at the quality of the pan (part) before you mail order and get some junk sent to you!) |

| All this reminds me of one other benefit of the Klokkerholm quarter section: shipping is considerably less. No oversize charges. |
