Hi all, just mated my case today and after installing CB's HD oil pump I found that after torqueing the bolts it locks up my cam. Anybody have any suggestions to fix this?

I bet if you loosen the bolts the problem disappears- sounds like the pump is too long. If the interference is only a little and you don't mind wrecking your warranty, you can grind back the tang that fits into the cam slot. Put some modelling clay in the slot and put the pump in, then remove the pump so you can see the impression of the clay and detirimine where the interference is coming in. Grind to fit- carefully. There are 2 kinds of cam setups for VWs, maybe you have the wrong one.

You can press the gear further into the pump gear...

also ensure that you have the correct pump- there are two styles. Early and Late (AK and BK) if you have a flat cam (gear end) you need an AK, if the cam gear is dished you need a BK... All performance cams are based on the AK specs.

The cam gear bolts hit the pump body by the upper gear shaft. Clearance the bolts, and/or, the pump body.

It could also be the gears in the pump being too long for the pump body. You'd have to sand them shorter with sandpaper on a piece of glass.

Another good reason to check the pump/ cam clearance ( if you are building from scratch, you can't if your just adding the pump after the engine has been built.... and in that case my money is on Jake's post... either the wrond pump for the cam or the shaft is sticking out the gear too far) before assembling the case.
